Whitaker Lyon Press is a small independent publisher based in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley.

We specialize in speculative fiction anthologies, short story collections, mysteries, and thrillers, with a particular focus on stories set in Virginia and the surrounding region.

Founded by author and editor James Blakey, we are dedicated to publishing imaginative short fiction that blends the familiar with the fantastic. Our anthologies invite readers to see places like Charlottesville, the Shenandoah Valley, Richmond, and beyond through new and unexpected lenses.

We pay all contributors and especially welcome submissions from new and emerging writers. Our goal is to create opportunities for voices that might not yet have found a home elsewhere while still producing high-quality books that celebrate regional storytelling.
